Establishing an Early Warning Indicator System

It is important that schools use data systems to help identify students who are at risk of falling off the path to high school graduation. By identifying a set of research- and evidence-based indicators that predict which students might be at risk of dropping out and then regularly analyzing data relative to these indicators, schools can provide at-risk students with the extra services or supports needed to prevent school disengagement and dropout.
