Sharon Vaughn is the H. E. Hartfelder/Southland Corp. Regent’s Chair in Human Development and Executive Director of the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk. She was the editor-in-chief of Journal of Learning Disabilities and the recipient of numerous awards including: CEC research award, the Special Education SIG American Education Research Association Distinguished Researcher Award, University of Texas Research award and IRA and School Psychology awards for best published article. She is the first woman to receive the research excellence award at the University of Texas. She has extensive experience as a PI of U.S. DOE-funded research and NICHD research grants. She has published more than 200 articles in refereed journals and has published more than 50 intervention studies.
Vaughn has directed large-scale, multisite research projects that have implemented secondary and tertiary reading intervention models to prevent reading disabilities. Vaughn has conducted more than 30 experimental studies in school settings, including with ELLs and has more than 5 articles that have fully met the WWC criteria for RCTs.
